Binding Suspension Rule: No application for new coverage or endorsement for increased coverage may be bound, written or issued, or monies received, regardless of effective date, when a tropical depression, tropical storm, hurricane watch, or hurricane warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for any part of the state of Florida. You will need to follow up at this website for notification of suspension of this moratorium.
Imminent Hurricane / Tropical Storm/Depression Threat – “The Box”
…shall be bound when a named tropical depression, tropical storm or hurricane is located within the designated “boundary box” issued by the carrier.

Storm Binding Guidelines for Empire Authorities:
Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama
Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina
All Other Atlantic Coast States
The entire island(s) of Puerto Rico and the American Virgin Islands
Longitude 85 W and Latitude 20 N
Longitude 70 and 90 W and Latitude 20 and 38 N
Longitude 65 W and Latitude 30 N
West of Longitude 60, East of Longitude 70, North of Latitude 13 and South of Latitude 23
Storm Binding Guidelines for Lloyd’s Authorities:
No new business or increased coverage shall be bound on properties when a designated tropical depression, tropical storm or hurricane is located within the boundaries West of 72 degrees W. Longitude; and North of 15 degrees N. Latitude; and South of 32 degrees N. Latitude; and East of 95 degrees W. Longitude. Renewals are not subject to the above, – we will honor bind requests unless the risk has expired. The program manager, at his/her discretion, may lift the moratorium when imminent danger of a direct strike has passed thorough a regional area even if a storm may still be in the box. Written approval from the program manager must be in the file when this exception is made.
